23 and 1/2 Hours

Watch this video by Dr. Mike Evans and discuss three main points you gained from his presentation.  What statistics stood out the most to you?  What do you suggest we as a society do to encourage others to follow through with his plan? Connect this video with our current unit of study and explain how and why heart health is important.

63 comments:

  1. People with arthritis who walked daily for 30 minutes reduced their pain and disability by almost 50 percent. People with alzheimers have reduced their symptons be 50 percent. By walking 30 minutes a day, the rate for anxiety goes down 58 percent. When Dr. Evens puts it into perspective in the end “Can you limit your sleeping to 23 ½ hours. I know as ridiculous as some people think New tech high school is, they do something that I think is sort of cool. They have something called brain break. It’s almost like a recess, the kids are forced to go outside because in class we are constantly sitting and typing and swiping and looking at bright screens. We should encourage more breaks and time during the day to go out and do stuff during school. I also feel that physical education should still be required on top of a half hour walk that kids would do during school. With heart healthiness you are able to do everything your body should be able to, when you begin to have problems it limits you.

  2. The results given in this video were very interesting! People with arthritis who walked daily for 30 minutes reduced their pain and disability by almost 50 percent, people with alzheimers have reduced their symptons be 50 percent, and the rate for anxiety goes down 58 percent. Dr. Evens really demonstrates the importance of your health and exercise. I have read several articles and have seen many times on the news that more managers are actually allowing their employees to take breaks during their shifts. This allows the employees to take a step back, think through anything that has come up and start off fresh. It is break for their brain. As Jenn said earlier, New Tech makes all of their students go on a brain break allowing them to go outside and rest their brain. When you are stuck behind a computer screen all day that isn’t healthy for your body

  3. Although worrying about weighing less, smoking less, drinking less, and controlling cholesterol and blood pressure are important to you and your health, that is not what is most important. The best medicine for you health is EXERCISE. This video is most importantly trying to show that exercising, or finding some time in your life for physical activity, will reduce the risk of many diseases. Studies have shown that exercise reduces the risks of the following: knee arthritis by 47%, dementia and alzheimers by 50%, diabetes by 58%, post menopausal women by 41%, anxiety by 48%, depression by 30%, then increased to 47%, harvard alumi's lowered risk of death by 23%. It is also known to be the #1 treatment of fatigue. I think in society today, we choose to spend our time doing other things we enjoy like watching tv, hanging out with friends, going out at night. The average US person spends 5 hours a day watching tv. In a big study in Australia, researcher Lennert Veerman found that those who watch tv 6 hours a die can expect to live 5 years less. Therefore, I think our society should have a more open mind to what is good for our health like EXERCISE, rather than spend our time destroying our health. This video connects to the topic we are studying right now because in order to maintain a healthy heart and lungs, you need to participate in exercise.

  4. This video is a great way to show what we all already hear. Stop watching so much tv/computer screens stop sitting around so much and get exercise! With walking or running or biking etc for just thirty minutes you can limit so many health problems without even needing medicine. The exercise is the medicine! The fact that anxiety can decrease by 48% and depression by 47% percent just by exercising for 30 minutes to an hour a day is amazing. This just shows how the use of your muscles and in turn the working of your respiratory system really does improve your health. The more active and more contractions with the muscles are able to do all of this. The whole concept of this video was that as long as you can reduce your sitting and sleeping to just 23 and 1/2 hours a day and exercise for just 30 minutes you will reap the health benefits for sure. This goes to what we are talking about this six weeks because we are all about the affects of health and exercise on the heart and lungs. In order to maintain stable and healthy heart and lungs we must exercise and live an active lifestyle.

  5. The three main points that I gained from his presentation is that.
    1. Exercise makes the biggest difference to health
    2. All that is required is 30 minutes being active
3.Low fitness is the strongest predictor of death.

The statistics that really stood out to me where are all problems that could be reduced with just exercise. The cause of knee arthritis decreases 47%, diabetes decreases by 58%, and anxiety decreases by 48%. Exercise is the #1 treatment of fatigue. Even 10 minutes of walking each day causes 12% decrease in high blood pressure. It is also very surprising that 6 hours a day of TV reduces life expectancy by 5 years

We as a society, are not completely aware of this simple cure. In this world of fast paced technology and innovative science, we look at machines and pills for a cure. But all that is needed to make a difference is 30 minutes of exercise. Currently, we are studying cardiovascular and respiratory system. This video relates to our study because exercise effects both these systems. Exercising more increases heart health; therefore, improving the cardiovascular system. Similarly, respiratory system benefits from exercise, as more oxygen is required, the lugs work harder. Hearth health is important because if the heart is not healthy, then the whole body would not be able to function. The heart is a vital organ that is needed for human survival.

  6. The statistics that stood out most to me were that:
    1. Low fitness is the strongest predictor of death, above obesity, smoking, and other high risk things.
    2. Exercise of any kind, meaning it doesn't have to be something extremely strenuous, is the most important why to stay healthy.
    3. Walking for half and hour a day is extremely effective. Just 30 minutes of exercise does wonders.
    4. By exercising for just 30 minutes a day, anxiety can decrease by 48% and depression by 47%
I suggest that we as a society encourage others to follow through with his plan by emphasizing it's simplicity and great rewards. 23 1/2 hours of sleeping and sitting seems plenty in comparison to 30 minutes of exercise. If the population is away of the short time of exercise needed in order to reduce symptoms of the inactive such as depression and anxiety, many would increase their amount of daily exercise. Not only is exercise important to one's brain, but it is also extremely important to one's heart. Having a healthy heart is important to one's entire body due to blood being regenerated in the heart and then spread throughout the entire body. By simple, daily, exercise one's heart, mind, and body will benefit greatly.

    ReplyDelete
  7. 1. People who got stints vs people who exercised.
This was very interesting to me because people are always shoving medicine down your throat. By this I mean, you always see weight loss pills and Advil and Viagra, etc. on TV and they seem like greatest thin ever. And then, to think that most things can be reduced by light exercise (walking) is incredible. It's a definite motivator.
    2. Low fitness is the biggest cause for death.
This is interesting because you would think it would be some sort of disease but really its all in your hands. If you exercise you are more likely to live longer.
    3. Every illness shown was decreased with exercise.
This proves that it works. Imagine all the possibilities. If it helps all these illnesses it must help others.

I think everyone should see this video and more people should advocate exercise. Walking everyday isn't that hard and very achievable for every type of person. People that everybody listens to, like celebrities would have a great impact on people if they talked about this. Perhaps schools could put this in place to by having recess for all ages at least once a week. People who know about this should encourage others to exercise for a healthy life and then everyone can spread the word.

  8. Three main points from this presentation:
    1) Exercise is the treatment!
    2) Only about half a hour is needed to be active.
    3) Low fitness is the strongest predictor of death.

    Statistics that stood out:
People with one hour of treatment with knee arthritis reduced their rates of pain by 47%.
In older people, it reduced dementia and Alzheimers by approximately 50%.
Diabetes reduced to 58%. People with depression with a low dose reduced to 30% and with a higher dose, it rose to 47%.
The treatment (exercise) is the number 1 treatment for fatigue.
Even walking for half and hour reduces the risk of so many diseases!

We, as a society, aren't fully aware of the treatment. We would much rather sit on the couch and live a sedentary lifestyle. I suggest that we as a society encourage others to follow through with his plan by emphasizing it's simplicity and benefits. 23 1/2 hours of not being active and 30 minutes of being active may not seem like a lot. But what he is trying to get at is that all it takes is 30 minutes to a hour of exercise to reduce risks.

Since we are studying the cardiovascular and respiratory systems right now, the video shows that exercise effects both these systems. Exercising more increases heart health. Similarly, respiratory system benefits from exercise, as more oxygen is required, the lungs work harder. Heart health is important because it is the most important organ for human survival. In order to have a healthy heart and lungs, one must exercise regularly.

    ReplyDelete
  9. What stood out the most to me was that people who watch TV for 6 hours a day live 5 years less than those who don't watch that much TV. Now I feel like I'm gonna die earlier than I should. The risk of diabetes was reduced by 58% when people exercised regularly. 67% of people who have a dog get 158 minutes of exercise a week. This is why I need a dog. Its shocking to know that so many disease can be cured by walking and exercising. I think that it would be helpful for society to see this video. Since so many people are watching TV, this should be broadcasted as a commercial or showed on the news. If people are really concerned with getting a disease, then they will get off the couch and start to exercise. We have been learning about blood flow through the heart and lungs. Plaque can build up in the arteries and cause a heart attack. Many heart attacks can be prevented by simply exercising. Heart health is important because it is the most important thing a person has. Without it, they're dead. A person wouldn't neglect their own child, so why do they neglect their heart?

  10. 3 Main Points
    1. Being sedentary is bad for your health
    2. Low fitness is the strongest predictor of death
    3. 30 minutes of exercise can be very effective

    Statistics That Stood Out
-Patients with knee arthritis who receive one hour of treatment 3 hours a week reduce their pain and disability by 47%.
-Patients with high risk of diabetes, exercise can reduce the progression by 58%.
-Post menopausal women who had four hours a week of the treatment had a 41% reduction of a hip fracture.

As a society, we should all implement this plan because it's very simple and has great outcome in the end. By encouraging others, we can all work together to at least exercise 30 minutes a day. With this, it would make such a difference and impact to the society as a whole. This relates to what we are currently studying because exercising is very important and it affects our body systems. Having a healthy heart is extremely important, and exercising daily will keep it up and running. Without it, the body would not be able to function properly since so much happens in that one organ.

  11. The three most important points were:
    - The best thing you can do for your health is be active at least 30 minutes a day.
    - Low fitness rates was the largest producer of death.
    - Exercise is the best medicine.

The statistics that really stood out to me were the ones about exercise verses surgery and medicine. I did not fully realize how much better exercise is rather than taking prescriptions from your doctor. People who did exercise such as riding a stationary bike for thirty minutes a day and attend a sixty aerobics class once a week had an eighty percent increase in heart health verses the people who had the surgery to fix plaque build up in the arteries only had a seventy percent increase in heat health. There was also a study done in Japan on how walking effected health. Studies show that a 11-20 minute walk to work each day decreased hypertension by 12 percent and a 21-29 minute walk a day decreased hypertension by 29 percent. As a society we need to convince people that taking the easy way is not always the best way. People need to get up off their couch and walk for at least thirty minutes instead of taking multiple prescriptions given to them by doctors. Exercise is the best medicine there is. This goes along with what we have been learning about because you have to have a healthy lifestyle to have a healthy heart.

  12. This was a very interesting and insightful video! I thought it was quite interesting when he brought up that TV can be just as bad for us as other risk factors such as smoking and lack of exercise, and that the average American watches five hours of TV a day. It is also shocking to hear that all we need is 30 minutes of exercise per day and that lack of exercise is the biggest predictor of death. As a society, it is extremely important that we recognize how the littlest things can make the biggest differences. Working out for just a few minutes a day can add years to our lives and can allow us to live healthier, longer lifestyles. If people went straight after work to the gym or to take a walk with their spouse, they would automatically have lower blood pressure, and be at a lower risk for anxiety and depression, two very silent but deadly killers. Heart health is so important because the little things that we don't think about can cause plaque to build around our arteries and cause hypertension problems for us in our later years. We have to know how to take care of ourselves and our bodies in order for our heart to be able to pump blood effectively through our bodies.

  13. 3 things I learned from the video were that exercise, or a lack of exercise, is one of the leading indicators of premature death, that 30 minutes of exercise was able to improve the symptoms of 47% of people with diabetes, and that just 11-20 minutes of exercise improves your healthy so significantly. I think that as a society we should encourage people to find ways that they can get 30 minutes of exercise into their own daily schedule even if it is just getting off the bus a stop early. This video connects to our unit on cardio and respiratory systems because we are learning how exercise keeps these systems running smoothly, which is important because these systems keep us alive

  15. Three main points:
    1. Low fitness is the leading predictor of death
    2. It only takes 30 minutes of exercise a day to positively impact your life
    3. Walking is the best medicine

    Three Statistics:
    1. People with dementia and Alzheimer's reduced their progression by about 50%
    2. People with depression had their symptoms reduced by 47%
    3. People that watch TV for about 6 hours a day live about 5 years
less than people who don't watch as much TV

As a society we need to make sure that everyone we know are aware of these statistics and that just 30 minutes of walking or exercise a day can have a big impact on their life. We need to make sure that we are taking just a little bit of time out of our day in order for us to be healthier. It is so easy to just come home and sit on the coach and watch TV or stare at our phones, iPads, or computers but we need to make sure that we are taking some time to be active. We need to encourage people to take more breaks in school and in the work force so that we are not just sitting throughout the entire day. This video connects to what we are learning because exercise can lead to healthier hearts. It prevents us from being obese which lessens the stress that is put on the heart.

  16. 1) 30 minutes of activity a day can have mind boggling effects on the body
    2) Not being active enough is the greatest cause of death
3)People who exercise will see better results not only in there whole body but also the plaque build up of the heart.
Some statistics that stood out to me were that Dementia and Alzheimers progression was reduced by 50% as many say that these are sometimes unavoidable diseases and that knee arthritis progression was reduced by 47%.
This video is definitely an eye opener, and I think it should be advertised more to the public, they should see all the statistics and studies that this video talks about to see the benefits of just 30 minutes of activity a day. Also encouraging our peers is another way, for example maybe exercising with friends not just for the benefit of them but also for ourselves. It will not only be beneficial to them and us but also motivational.
Our current unit of study is the cardiovascular and respiratory system. This video connects to the cardiovascular system, as plaque build up in arteries can cause major heart diseases. But in this video it shows that 88% of cardiovascular patients saw 88% improvement in their health, while only 70% did when they got a stent. Heart health is not only important to itself but to the whole body and the person as a whole, because if the heart can not pump blood it can not get through the whole body to supply it. But exercise for just 30 minutes a day can help the heart and the body together improve.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Statistics that stood out the most: If you watch 6 hours of TV, that reduces life by five years. Changing your lifestyle can reduce anxiety by 48%. People that walked 30 minutes a day reduced a person with diabetes by 47%.
I think as a society, we don't realize how lazy we are because we are so busy working. Some jobs don't require a lot of walking and that fact that 30 minutes is all it takes is mind boggling. I think the more people that try this method and shows the results will motivate people from success stories. I know it is hard for parents to focus on themselves with small children but even 20 minutes a day is better than nothing. This video should be played in offices and schools to show the affect of 23 1/2 hours. Heart health is very important because if people just eat fatty foods that could lead to a lot of symptoms for the long run. Having a healthier heart can reduce obesity and have longer lives for society if they just exercise for thirty minutes a day.

  18. 3 main points I got from the video is that low fitness is the biggest risk factor in death, only 30 minutes a day can make a huge difference on your body's health, and that exercise is the best thing you can do for your body. Statistics that stood out to me was that an 11-20 minute walk can reduce blood pressure by 12%, exercise can reduce anxiety and depression by 50%, and that people who watch 6 hours of TV live 5 years less, the average American watches about 5 hours. People today feel like they have no time to do anything, whether its because they're busy with school or work. So they should be shown that it's fine to take a break, in Japan, workers have exercise breaks where they can move not be sedentary all the time. If school and work allowed, or even force, their workers/students to get up and move then they wouldn't really see it as a waste of time because of the mandatory routine, encouraging exercise. Relating to our topic of the cardiovascular and respiratory system, exercise is important in maintaining a healthy heart and lungs.

  19. The three main points he made in this video were that not being active can lead to an increased risk of death much more than the average person believes, that just 30 minutes of activity a day, 1/48 of our day, can cause us to become significantly more healthy, and that the lack of exercise some people get should be thought of as a disease, not just a lifestyle issue. The statistics about how exercise can decrease anxiety, joint issues, dementia, depression, and risk of death all by over 20% is pretty interesting, there's no reason why people shouldn't be more active. I think in America as a whole, it's pretty impossible to force people to understand this. When I was in London, people going to and from work tend to have a lot of walking to do because they take the trains and subways rather than driving, driving isn't as common because of high gas prices. Because of this, most people get around by walking instead which contributes greatly to their country being healthier. However, in America we take cars everywhere.
People who don't exercise obviously have health issues that we can physically see, but also the buildup of fat in their heart is the most alarming issue. If too much fat builds up, the risk of heart attack goes up exponentially, along with other issues that stem from fat build up. Overall, the risk of death goes up way too much because of non-activity.

    ReplyDelete
  20. The three main points of the video were that exercise is extremely impotent to ones general health, all that is required is 30 minutes and that a lack of fitness greatly lowers ones quality and length of life. I thought it was amazing that in older people, exercise reduced dementia and Alzheimers by approximately 50%. Diabetes reduced to 58%. People with depression who exercised in low amounts reduced to 30% or 47% with higher amounts. As for encouraging others to follow through with his plan I think we should have recess like the do in Brazil! All forms of exercise work the heart making it stronger. The heart effects all parts of the body and assists many of the systems within it.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Three Major point in this video:
    1. Low fitness is the strongest predictor of death, even more than obesity, smoking, and other possible risk things.
    2. Any exercise at all even only 30 mins is helpful and important
    3. People who exercise have better health overall, heart health included
The most interesting fact to me was that people with problems such as diabetes can reduce it up to 47%, people with anxiety can reduce it up to 48%, and even people with Alzheimer's can reduce their progression up to 50%. All this can come from just 30 mins of exercise a day! And that's not even all the issues exercise can help, it's so critical to our health, physically and mentally. Someone who is a little overweight with Diabetes probably won't be as confident in themselves as someone who doesn't have those problem. As a society, we can encourage others just to try it and and show them the facts about how much healthier they can be even with just 30 mins of exercise a day. We can also show them negative stats about not exercising, fact like how watching TV an average of 6 hours a day can lower their life span by 5 years! When it comes to heart health, and the connection to what we are learning, exercise is imperative. One of the most important muscles you can workout is your heart. Exercise can remove and stop the build up of plaque in your arteries, it can help reduce obesity, and it helps blood flow better through the body and all this can come through 30 minutes of exercise everyday.

  23. I think Dr. Evan’s main point of exercising at least 30 minutes is essential, and I personally try to hit that 30-60 minute mark every day. Also two underlying points I took away from this presentation was not only do positive things for my health such as exercise, but to limit my tv time and computer time. Also I have become way too dependent on my car, and do not walk everywhere like I used to when I was younger. By walking and exercising more as well as limiting technology time, I believe anybody can increase their life expectancy and health dramatically. The 88% of low tech technology as opposed to 70% after a stent really stood out to me, because the best remedy is right in front of us, but we choose to ignore it. Also the Japanese statistic of over a 21 minute walk reduces the chance of high blood pressure by 29% interests me, because I might take that into consideration when looking for a job in the future. Moreover I think as a society we should advertise and encourage others around us to exercise 30 minutes a day and then expand that to various healthy activities. It is our responsibility to take charge of our health. After studying our current unit and watching this video I can confidently say exercise is the key element to a healthy heart above all other factors.

  24. In this video Dr. Mike Evans discusses the great advantages of walking just 30 minutes a day. Dr. Evans believes the best thing you can do for your health is simply walk for 30 minutes everyday. I found it fascinating that above obesity, heart disease, and other factors, low fitness is the strongest predictor of death. For those that are used to participating in zero physical activity a day, exercising just 1 hour a week can reduce the risk of heart disease by almost half. Some people that are used to exercising may still wonder how long to walk. It is said that for every increase of 10 minutes in your walk, you can expect a 12% decrease in high blood pressure. Finally, the most fascinating statistic is that people who watch an average of 6 hours of TV a day live on average of 5 years less. This is truly mind blowing, and should encourage everyone to spend more time outside or exercising. I suggest people take small steps like walking their dog daily, taking the stairs, or getting off the bus a stop early in order to increase their health and increase their lifespan. After all, walking is a man's best medicine.

  25. A few things I quickly discovered through this video were that people who are obese and have no exercise at all are worse off than obese people with some amount of exercise. Another thing is that with exercising most anxiety and depression can go down by 30 to 58% and Alzheimers by 50%. And people who usually don’t exercise live fewer years. I think by setting a goal for society to exercise whether it’s by running, walking or just moving in general for 30 minutes a day can dramatically improve one’s lifestyle and health. By keeping your health in check one may live and feel better. By simply doing this, the chances of bad health coming one’s way can slowly diminish. And as a result one may live longer and healthier which I believe is a step we as a society can take to becoming a healthier society and therefore producing a newer and healthier generation to come.

  26. From the video, I learned how fitness it beneficial to all types of illnesses, not just weight loss. From no exercise to even a little exercise will do tremendous amount of good to your body. Also I learned the more physical activity you do, the better it is. The statistics that stood out most to me were how each of the health problems like arthritis, diabetes, and anxiety all decreased almost by half or more. It is amazing physical activity can help mental health. As a society I think the best way to follow with his plan is to educate. Although I knew exercise was very for you, everything that Dr. Mike Evans explained in this video was surprising. This video connects with our current unit of study because all physical activity obviously includes your heart. And the heart is working to pump oxygen-rich blood throughout your body.

  27. Three main point I learned from the video was that low fitness is biggest factor that leads to death, 30 minutes of exercise can improve ones health, and walking is easiest and healthiest exercise to do. The Statistic about Death stood out to me most. I never knew low fitness can cause so much impact on people’s life more than other factors. By investing 30 minutes of life, people can extend their life span and decrease blood pressure and others. As a society, I think we should give people a 30 minutes break to release stress by simply walking with family or friends. Exercise makes us healthy by building muscles in the heart and increasing use of respiratory system. More fresh airs enter to our lungs and will be the body. Plagues in blood vessels will slowly decrease as we exercise more often, increasing speed of blood circulation.

  28. Three main points
1.Even with only 30 minute of exercise is helpful for your health.
2.Low fitness is the strongest predictor of death.
    3.Exercise is the best medicine.

    Three statistics
1.Exercise reduced dementia and Alzheimers by 50%, and for patients at high risk of diabetes, it reduced by 58%.
2.Every increase of 10 minute of walking , there is a 12% reduction in likelihood of getting high blood pressure.
    3. 6 hours a day of TV reduce life expectancy by 5 years.
I think that as a society we should let more people aware of the facts and statistics which were mentioned in the video in order to encourage people to do 30 minutes of exercise or walking a day, and have healthy life style. Also, this connects what we are learning right now because exercise is very important and effective to maintain a healthy heart and lung.

  29. 1) Not getting enough exercise is the leading predictor of death
    2) many diseases can be cured or greatly affected by exercise
    3) People with Alzheimer's reduced symptoms by 50% after adding exercise to their daily routine
I find it very interesting that above all other diseases and conditions, low fitness is the leading predictor of death. By only exercising 30 minutes a day, you can change your health in so many ways. It's crazy to think that some people watch tv for 6 hours each day. Instead of watching tv you could be outside with friends and family having a blast instead of being inside watching a screen. Exercise is good for your whole body, including your heart. It makes the heart stronger which makes it easier to pump blood throughout your body. Everyone should try to save at least 30 minutes during their day for exercise.

  30. In this video by Dr. Mike Evans I learned how important just 30 minutes of walking can do. What stood out the most in this presentation is that fact that – 1. 30 minutes of active walking can change a lot in our bodies. 2. being too sedentary worsens health 3. Not being as active is what makes us closer to our death. Some of the statistics that stood out to me that most were: How diabetes can be reduced to 58%, and that fact depression with lower does reduced to 58% and with a higher dose it rose to 47%. When the cardiovascular patients found an 88% improvement, while only 70% did when they got a stent. Another statistic was that how watching tv for 6 hours all the time can reduce your life expectancy by 5 years. This video really hit me, in the way how much 30 minutes of walking for even more can do to our bodies, and how it gives so many benefits, making people’s lives better and healthier. Because of the unit we are studying in class now about heart problems and the different valves and parts of the heart, the video has shown different problems becoming a less risk by just walking, and doing some physical activity, and that’s how our health will stay better and less heart problems will occur.

  31. Exercise can be a treatment, little time is needed to be active, and low fitness is the strongest predictor of death was the three main problems in this video that stood out the most to me. Exercising more increases heart health. Similarly, respiratory system benefits from exercise, as more oxygen is required, the lungs work harder. Heart health is important because it is the most important organ for human survival. In order to have a healthy heart and lungs, one must exercise regularly. The results given in this video were very interesting! People with arthritis who walked daily for 30 minutes reduced their pain and disability by almost 50 percent, people with Alzheimer’s have reduced their symptoms be 50 percent, and the rate for anxiety goes down 58 percent.

  32. Three main points can summarize the big idea of this video: 1) low fitness is a strong predictor of death, 2) 30 minutes of exercise everyday can make a huge beneficial impact for your health, and 3) the exercise doesn't have to be strenuous to make an impact.

In the video, Dr. Mike Evans discuss the statistics of this 30-minute exercise routine that are continuously changing the lives of many. People with depression, dementia and Alzheimer's were able to decrease and reduce their symptoms or progression by about 50%. Those are amazing statistics. Dr. Mike Evans also talked about the fact that Americans spent on average 5 hours of watching TV everyday. People that watch TV for 6 hours a day decease their life span by 5 years compared to those that don't watch TV as often. These statistics are an eye openers, and reveals the dire need for change in American lifestyle. In the fast-paced, technology-oriented society we have today, we enjoy developed technology that allows us to relax and stay immobile for far longer than what is healthy for us. It's critical now that we get up and get moving, since our bodies were created for movement and exercise. If just 30 minutes of exercise can save my life, then why would I wait? More easier than said, motivation can serve to be an obstacle in this improvement of lifestyle. However, if friends and communities come together and advocated an active routine, people will become motivated, and will participate in these events, and maybe even allow it to become a hobby, and no longer an obligation.

  33. 1. 30 minutes of walking actually can and does effect your health
    2. Doing nothing can quicken your death
    3. Exercise keeps the body fit and live longer

I found that 30 minutes of walking had so many benefits it was hard to believe that something so simple could be so impactful. Things like anxiety, depression, even Alzheimer's decrease with this short walk. If our society it's sometimes difficult to get up and move. With all the technology around us it's hard not to get distracted by it and to go "ooh" and "ah". It's said that a positive reward after doing a task is more effective that a negative one. Maybe in order to change society and get people involved, have sort of reward that is given. Maybe then people would have more incentive to attain a healthier lifestyle. A healthy heart and healthy lungs only bring out the best in exercise. But even if you didn't have health y of any of them, exercising would strengthen these organs and make them healthy. It's important to keep the lungs and heart healthy because exercise needs them.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The statistic that stood out to me was that changing your lifestyle decreased symptoms of depression by 47%. This statistic could be life changing for people who depression affects, and it's surprising to me that more people don't know this statistic considering it's weight and magnitude. A way we could help his idea achieve success is that we can work to keep recess and physical activity a large part of schools, especially in elementary school so that we can promote a healthy lifestyle early and teach kids positive exercising and lifestyle tips. A positive and healthy lifestyle affects a healthy heart a lot, because a person's exercising habits and diet can both directly affect how well our hearts perform. Our lifestyles can impact how well our bodies, including our hearts, perform.

  35. 1) Low exercise is a leading predictor of earlier death.
    2) Exercise doesn't have to be strenuous to make an impact.
    3) Many diseases and illnesses can be prevented or reduced by keeping fit.
I think the best way to keep people physically active and fit is to keep them informed. The video alone shows the major impact minor exercise can have on the body throughout your lifetime. If children continue to learn about things like this in school like we are, then we could have a much healthier future for the country. A good way to keep planting information about the subject into people's minds is by statistics alone. Learning things like how Alzheimer's can be reduced by nearly 50% by exercise demonstrates the power of exercise and could encourage people to remain active. The heart remains one of the most important things to focus on when maintaining physical fitness, since it's so easy to negatively affect by a bad diet or inactivity.

  36. 3 main points--
    - A great thing you can do for your health is be active at least 30 minutes a day.
    - Low fitness rates was the largest cause of death.
    - Exercise is the best medicine for many diseases and illnesses.

The statistics that stood out to me where are all problems that could be reduced with exercise. The cause of knee arthritis decreases 47%, diabetes decreases by 58%, and anxiety decreases by 48%. And people who usually don’t exercise live fewer years. All that is needed to make a difference is 30 minutes of exercise. We are studying cardiovascular and respiratory system. Exercise makes the heart stronger which makes it easier to pump blood throughout your body. Exercise can remove the build up of plaque in your arteries, and it can help reduce obesity. All this can come through 30 minutes of exercise everyday.

  37. 1. The average adult watches 5 hours of TV a day.
    2. People who watch TV for 6 hours a day live 5 years less.
    3. Exercising 30 minutes a day reduces pain in any part of the body.
I had no idea that the average American watches 5 hours of TV a day. I realized with the recent advance in technology that we watched a screen a lot during the day but I had no idea it was 5 hours. Another statistic that stood out to me was that people who watch TV for 6 hours a day die 5 years earlier. This statistic fascinates me because the average American watches 5 hours so one extra hour a day will cause one to die 5 years earlier. Unfortunately, us as society cannot do anything to push Americans to exercise for 30 minutes a day. The only thing we can do is encourage them through real life scenarios or these statistics. No matter how hard we try, when it comes down to it, people can only turn to themselves to work out for 30 minutes a day.

  38. 1. The amount of exercise that you take part in is the leading predictor of death.
    2. Watching 6 hours of TV each day may cause your life expectancy to decrease by 5 years.
    3. Exercise can reduce symptoms such as Alzheimer's and knee arthritis by approximately 50%.

The three statistics above all stood out to me due to the fact that exercise can positively affect them all. Exercise is said to be able to significantly reduce symptoms of numerous diseases and illnesses. For example, thirty minutes of exercise each day can reduce symptoms of diabetes by fifty-eight percent, knee arthritis by forty-seven percent, and anxiety by forty-eight percent. I was also surprised by the statistic which said that those who watch TV for six hours a day can expect to have 5 years cut off of their life expectancy. With this being said, it is astonishing for me to think that so many people will not give up thirty minutes a day to exercise when the reward has such a positive effect on our health. We are currently learning about the respiratory and cardiovascular system in which exercise can positively influence that as well. Exercise strengthens our muscles and in turn, allows them to function more easily. As a society, we should require students to exercise on an every day basis and also provide and encourage numerous physical activities and fund raisers around town.

  39. 1. Just a small amount of exercising such as walking your dog or running for thirty minutes does have a positive affect on your health.
2.The leading cause of death in a certain poll comparing things such as smoking, and obesity was maintaining a low fitness rate.
    3. Watching TV and other screens such as computers of cell phones for more than six hours a day has the potential to lower your life expectancy by five years.

The statistics that stood out to me the most were the ones talked about towards the beginning of the video in terms of exercise lowering potential knee and elbow problems as well as diseases such as Alzheimer's by a potential 50 percent. It was also surprising to see the statistic involving the negative affects of watching television and how those affects can diminish your life expectancy. Unfortunately there is not much you can do to solve this problem just because the solution has to be very proactive it requires people to do lots of action on their own time, this problem was also mentioned in the video. I think that we really just need to keep encouraging Americans to get out and exercise for just a mere thirty minutes a day. We are currently learning about both the cardiovascular system as well as the respiratory system. The video actually specifically talked about an issue we had previously talked about in class which was plaque build up in the heart and the surgical procedure to fix that. It was eye opening to realize that exercise can have almost greater affects post-op. In a more obvious manner however the main point of the video was to exercise which directly relates to the well being and health of these two systems especially.

  40. Many people believe the best way to increase your health is to cut back on sweets, eat more fruits and vegetables and to quit other unhealthy habits such as smoking. These initiatives are helpful when improving one's health but there is a solution that is much easier to do with better results; exercising. In his video "23 and 1/2 hours", Dr. mike Evans talks about the benefits of exercising, how to get started and the statistics surrounding unhealthiness. The statistic that stood out the most to me was that a lack of exercise is the leading predictor of death because most people think its bad habits such as smoking or unhealthy eating. Another statistic that stood out to me was that TV can shorten your lifespan; 6 hours of tv a day can take off 5 years of your life. Unfortunately our society is always watching tv, on our phones/tablets and just sitting around. We have commercials that will advertise fancy equipment for exercising but not everyone can afford or even want such things. Walking, jogging or riding a bicycle are the best ways to get healthy. By exercising for at least 30 minutes a day, you can improve your health and life span significantly. This is relevant to this six weeks because we are learning about the heart and lungs. When exercising, your heart bumps blood faster and you breath harder. By making those organs work harder, they become stronger and feed more blood and oxygen to the rest of your body which in turn makes you healthier and stronger. The key points to look at in the video are that a lack of exercise is a major predictor of death, 30 minutes of exercise a day is all you need and that walking is the simplest way to get in shape.

  41. 1. Low fitness is the strongest predictor of death
    2. Anyone can exercise for 30 minutes a day
    3. Most other problems mentioned (smoking, obesity, blood pressure, etc) can be alleviated by this small sacrifice

I knew 30 minutes a day is all you need to stay relatively healthy, but I was surprised that low fitness levels are the leading predictor of death; I always thought it was obesity or smoking. The statistic about the effects of TV left me feeling a tad uneasy, because I love watching it. I've learned over the years that being stationary doesn't have positive effects, but 5 years? It's good that Dr. Evans mentions the benefits of walking. I enjoy that as much as TV, and it makes me appreciate walking to and from school every day. Encouraging others to partake in this lifestyle is primarily to spread this information around. Many people will take comfort in the fact that walking alone can reduce many dangerous issues. It's also good to hear that obese people who exercise can still become healthier than their stationary counterparts. This is a good video to relate to the six weeks, because Dr. Evans references the positive effects exercising can have on the heart.

  42. Three main points that stood out I. My perspective were
    1. 30 minutes of exercise of daily exercise of a long period of time is enough to reduce the chances of heart diseases by 30%.
    2. An increase in every 10 min of walking reduces the chances of getting high blood pressure by 12%.
    3. Television is a major cause of chronic disorders.
88% of the people who exercised were event free as compared to 77% of the people who got a stent.
This video along with the plan suggested by it a great way to motivate people to exercise in small quantities, though regularly. The statistics mentioned encourage viewers to actually make a lifestyle change, as number often psychologically make an impact on us. This video very much correlates with our unit on cardiovascular, as it explains the long term benefits of exercising for our body as well as our hearts.

  43. The three main points that I gained from this video was that:
-Low fitness is the strongest predictor of death
-Spending 1/2 an hour to an hour a day exercising is the best thing to do for your health
-Obesity and no exercise is worse than being obese and exercising

My favorite statistics from the video was that a woman who goes from not doing any exercise to one hour a week of exercise reduced her heart disease rate by almost half and that people who watch 6 hours of TV a day live 5 years less.

I would suggest to have as many opportunities for people to be active during the day. Many offices have gotten rid of their employees chairs after a study was released that said sitting is killing us. This forced the employees to be active. If something such as this could be implemented in schools around the country, there would be a significant increase in activity. It is very important to exercise, in order for you heart to be as healthy as possible. When you exercise, your heart becomes stronger, works more efficiently, and pumps blood faster. Exercise is necessary in order to have the longest lifespan possible.

  44. 3 Main Points
Excerise can make a big difference in ones health.
30 min of being active is required
low fitness is a strong predictor of death

Some of the statistics that really stood out to were.
Patients who have knee arthritis who receive 1 hour of treatment 3 times a week reduce there pain and disability by 47%.
Dementia and Alzheimer's reduce by about 50 percent.
Patients with high risk of diabetes reduce to frank diabetes by around 58%

Our society doesn't know what the word "exercise " means. This one word has cures for many disease, all there is needed is 30 minutes of exercise . This video relates to what we are learning currently in class which is "Cardiovascular and Respiratory system." This video shows how exercise effects both these systems in both good and bad ways depending on how you want to care for your body. Exercising helps with the heart which is also known as cardiovascular and respiratory system benefits from exercise, as more oxygen is required, the lungs work harder, trying to give the body enough oxygen.

  45. Three points that I gained from this video:
    1. exercise is a huge part in determining the health and life span of someone
    2. it doesn't take a lot to make a big difference
    3. the benefits largely outweigh any reason that someone would have for not wanting to participate in physical activity

I found this video very interesting. It was surprising to me that those that walked only ten minuets longer in Japan had an almost 12% decrease in heart disease. It astounds me that simply being active for 30 minuets a day can lead to such drastic health differences, and that it even helps those that are not as mobile as others. The outer thing that I found interesting was the link to tv and heath problems. While we may think that it is insane for someone to watch 6 hours of tv in a single day, it surprised me even more that the average american watches 5 hours of tv a day. I am already active, but this video motivates me to get my parents and friends that are not as active more involved. I want to make sure that these people that I care about stay around for a long time, and it looks like simply walking for 30 minuets can help insure that they stay healthy enough. On a more societal level I think that simply showing this video and demonstrating to the public that something as simple as walking could make the difference, could make a big impact in the day to day lives of americans. upon seeing this I am motivated to go out and exercise, yet I already do every day for more than the time recommended. I don't need to do more, yet I want to because I see the benefits that it holds.

  46. Three main points from the video :
    - People who exercise and chose a healthier lifestyle reduced anxiety by 48%, depression by 30% and diabetes by 58%.
    - A 30 minute exercise routine a day can change one's life significantly.
    - One major cause of chronic disorders is the Television.
I find all these facts very interesting. The one statistic that stood out for me most, is the decrease in diabetes rates. 58% is a great amount of reduction. Knowing that only 30 minutes of exercise is needed for this to happen is mind blowing. Diabetes is a very tiring disease, patients are required to inject insulin and keep track of every little thing they eat. Also, it is interesting to know that television is the main cause of chronic disease. Most people who are obese tend to watch a lot of television, which explains the consequences. In class, we learnt about "Cardiovascular and respiratory system". We talk about how exercise keeps the heart healthy and helps in better respiration. Exercise provides more oxygen to the body which is necessary for cellular respiration, breakdown of glucose, and basically, it is necessary to live.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Three main points I learned from this presentation is that exercise helps so much more than just our health and making us "fit" or "skinny". Exercise makes us happier and healthier, it provides better habits in our lives that help with longterm health and emotional health. Exercise is the most important medicine we can give our body. The next thing is that there are many things that cause death, but many are preventable. He uses the example about smoking and not smoking and the absolute fact that smoking can cause lung cancer which can lead to death. This smoking is compared to not exercising and this low activity is a #1 predictor of death, and this is the easiest thing to fix about ourselves and it's interesting how many people don't try to change this one simple thing. Another thing I learned from this presentation is it doesn't matter what you do (how you exercise or how you're active) and it doesn't necessarily matter how long, it just matters that you DO it. Even an hour a week can benefit a person and their heart.

One of the statistics that stuck out for me is that for every 10 minutes you add to walking, there's a 12% reduction in high blood pressure. A lot of people, especially Americans, have high blood pressure, which is interesting because it's so easy to prevent it.

I think if people just understood how easy it is to help your body, how simple your workout and activity can be, they would change something. I think many people feel like they have to be hardcore and intense with their workouts, but this isn't true at all. Walking your dog for half an hour a day can make your body better.

This video explains that the more active we are, the stronger our heart becomes and it works more efficiently. When our heart is working efficiently, it is less likely to have hypertension among other things.

    ReplyDelete
  48. The three main points I gained were
    1) No exercise is very bad for you health.
    2) Just a total of 30 minutes a day drops your risks of disease and death dramatically.
    3) TV is unhealthy.

The statistics were surprising, especially how the exercise doesn't have to be rigorous. It can just be walking and no even all at once. The fact it can be broken up and easy makes this whole thing seem far more achievable. This video makes me want to go for a walk everyday, perhaps take pictures around my neighborhood. I don't really watch a lot of TV but I do work on my computer a lot and that's just as bad. It would be nice to have a break.

The statistics about the Japanese business men walking to work impressed me a lot, I know a lot of the time we Americans drive everywhere, even if where we're going isn't that far away. Parents don't want their kids walking around and so kids don't get into the habit. I think we has a society should try to provide opportunities to just walk for thirty minutes. Businesses could have breaks put into their systems where the employees get up and walk for about ten minutes, maybe go grab a drink or something and then they go back to work. Recess should come back into upper schools, it only lasted about thirty minutes anyway and it would keep teenagers active who are usually stuck in desks or working on essays on the computer or playing video games. If people knew it was easy, we could have a much healthier America.

In the video he talked about the heart and how getting a splint does about the same amount of good as activity for 30 minutes a day. It seems far more dangerous to get the splint than to just exercise and far more expensive. This just shows how having a healthy heart releives a number of health problems and that it's not hard to keep your heart healthy.

    ReplyDelete
  49. The three main points of the video were that low fitness is the most preventable risk factor, it takes minimal effort to exercise, and that exercise can prevent many illnesses and diseases. The most interesting statistics to me was that the risk of poor mental health such as anxiety, dementia, Alzheimer's, and depression lowered with more exercise. As a society, we can help encourage more people to exercise at least 30 minutes a day by lessening our addiction to sedative media, being one of the major time wasters in our society. The heart is important as the more efficient it is, pumping blood better through exercise, the healthier one will be as several health risks are lowered greatly. A healthy, unclogged heart, maintained through exercise is more effective in improved health than medical attempts, as seen in the video, thus heart health has a major role in a person's overall health.

  50. I found it interesting that one medication had physical, mental, and emotional benefits. Also, the video was fairly convincing of how simple 30 minutes of physical activity really is, as it offered multiple alternatives to our everyday tasks. However I was most surprised about how effective a little but of exercise really is. The study of high tech and low tech treatments for heart disease was alarming. The effects of aerobic therapy not only was more successful, but it also affected the entire body rather than one vessel. The easiest way to convince people to exercise I think is to explain that they will die sooner if they don't, and that it is the most influential and beneficial decision an individual can make to increase their quality of life. The perspective of 23.5 hours really shed exercise time in a didn't light. Rather than finding time to exercise, we can shave off the endless hours of couch potato syndrome we suffer from each day (average 5 hours). The best way to convince our society to exercise more is to compare the lives of these who do and don't exercise. Those who are lazy would be surprised to see how much different they could be with a daily investment of just 30 minutes a day.

  51. Three major points I learned from this video were that exercise is very important to health, only 30 minutes of exercise per day is enough to make you fit, and that low exercise is a huge predictor of death. The statistics that surprised me were that people with arthritis who walked or exercised for 30 minutes daily reduced their pain and disability by up to 50%, people with Alzheimer's who exercised that much reduced their symptoms by 50 percent and those who face anxiety also goes down by 58% through the act of exercising. As a society, we should all encourage each other to exercise. People should go outside and play games, do stretches or some yoga and encourage others to join. Going to the park, you can let everyone join in your game whether it be tag, basketball, or soccer. By exercising out in front of people and encouraging a variety of people to join, more people feel inclined to be a part of the group. This connects with our unit because it shows how exercise is great for the health of our heart. Not only do we have to eat healthy, but we also need to get our body moving and are hearts pumping.

  52. 1. You don't have to work out for hours. 30 minutes to a full hour is a good amount.
    2. "Low fitness is the strongest predictor of death"
    3. 67% of dog walkers got the necessary exercise hours they needed weekly.

I think the third statistic I mentioned is the strongest encouragement that can be used to help motivate people to workout 30 minutes to an hour a day. I think also knowing that it doesn't all have to be at once will help people start working out more. People who don't regularly work out don't necessarily want to be pushed very hard and if they know just how easy it is then they would work out more often.
I also think it's important for people to take a look at themselves and how much time they spend watching tv or on the computer. A simple solution, watch the Tv on your phone while you walk outside your neighborhood. If the TV means all much to you, you can find ways around it to exercise.

  53. Exercise helps the keep the body in good shape
    Atleast 30 min are required
low fitness is the strongest predictor of death

Alzheimer’s have reduced their symptoms be 50 percent, and the rate for anxiety goes down 58 percent.
People with arthritis who walked daily for 30 minutes reduced their pain and disability by almost 50 percent

This video relates to what we are learning in class right now which is " Cardiovascular and Respiratory system." Both these systems work really hard to keep our body moving and healthy. Exercising is one way we can help our body stay healthy. Exercising only 30 min a day can make a difference in your body. Exercise is good for the heart and the respiratory system helps oxygen flow through the body. Society now a days have become more and more lazier, new technology has made work less.

  54. Three main points I learned from the video were that:
    1. low fitness is the biggest factor that leads to death
    2. 30 minutes of daily exercise can improve ones health
    3. walking is easiest and healthiest exercise to do.

The Statistic about Death stood out to me most. I never knew low fitness could cause so much impact on peoples' life more than other controllable factors. By investing a few minutes a day to exercise, people can extend their life span and decrease blood pressure. As a society, I think we should give people a 30 minutes break to release stress by simply walking with family or friends just like Japan. Exercise makes us healthy by building muscles in the heart and increasing use of respiratory system. More fresh air enter to our lungs and the body.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Some of the points that stood out to me in this video was that low fitness was the biggest predictor of death, which a slightly scary statistic for any coach potato. Another statistic was that it reduced anxiety by 58% which is an enormous amount, as a student in high school you often see people panicking to finish a project or turn in college applications and all this anxiety constantly comes in, so reducing that rate but nearly 60% is an incredible feat. And the other most striking statistic was that women in the nurses health study who went from no exercise to just one hour a week, not even the recommended amount, reduced their risk of heart disease by almost half which is a a feat in itself let alone by just taking 1 hour out of a week to change that much. So to help society out as a whole in this, I think it would be best to just start on an individual basis, but then for that person to invite their friends to do it with them and so forth make everyone involved by all doing something together.
Exercising helps create a healthy respiratory system and cardiovascular system by keeping the both systems working together efficiently and by keeping both systems fit and in shape.

  56. The 3 most significant statistics to me were that with 30 minutes of exercise a day knee arthritis decreased 47%, diabetes decreased by 58%, and anxiety decreased by 48%. The part saying that fitness level is the biggest single predictor of death was definitely convicting, as I get very little physical activity a day. This ties into our cardiovascular unit as exercise is not only good for anxiety and arthritis and other diseases but improves heart health and oxygen efficiency of the heart. We could implement 30 minutes of activity a day into our society by doing things like Brain Breaks at New Tech, or generally implementing better physical fitness programs into our schools. This way students can build healthy habits through their formative years to continue on into adulthood.

  57. This video shows just how important exercise is and that you can save years of your life if you just stay active for 30 minutes a day. The fact that depression, diabetes, Alzheimer's and other illnesses have a better chance of decreasing in risk just by walking is an unbelievable concept. Another point is how dangerous watching TV or sitting in front of screens can be. That 5 years can be subtracted from your life if you watch to much TV. They said 6 hours was a dangerous amount but the average american watched about 5 hours of television. Lastly the idea that it's so simple to stay health is shocking. Walking your dog can actually give you a longer life is a very exciting.
The statistic I thought was most shocking was the one about the television and how it can subtract 5 years of your life. I feel if people were aware of these benefits of staying fit they would take psychical activity a little more seriously. This connects to what we were learning because it went into obesity and heart damage of inactivity. That the use of machines actually decreases the workout process is very interesting. Then that even if you're obese and still maintain a good work out program then it's ok. That a person who is obese but still works out is still a positive thing. This video opened my eyes to the importance of physical activity.

  58. Three main points
    1. Low fitness is the leading predictor of death
    2. It only takes 30 minutes of exercise a day to positively impact your life
    3. Walking is the best medicine
There were a lot of interesting points in the video on how 30 mins of exercise can impact your life. By exercising every day it decreases the chance of you becoming sick or have diabetes by 58%. I think in today's society we choose to spend our time inside doing other things we enjoy like watching Tv and hanging out with friends. I think our society should be more active so that we won't become prone to being coach potatoes. If you and a group of friends want to go work out you should see if the want to go to the gym or do something active so that you're not being non productive. This video corresponds to our topic because in order to maintain a healthy heart, and lungs you need to be more active when it comes to exercising.

  60. Three main points:
    1. only about half an hour of daily exercise is needed to keep you healthy, along with a good diet.
    2. Low fitness is the strongest predictor of death.
    3. A scientist found that the average American adult watches 5 hours of t.v. a day.

Some statistics that stood out to me were: exercise has shown to have helped 50% of older patients with reducing the progression of their Dementia and Alzheimer's, Patients with anxiety decreased by 48% due to exercise, and patients with diabetes reduced progression by 58% due to exercise. All of the statistics were amazing to me.

I think that if more people were aware of all of the benefits, not only weight loss, that exercise can bring, and also had a good support system, then they would be more likely to get active and stay active because they are motivated.

As a society, I think we should give people a 30 minutes break to release stress by simply walking with family or friends. Exercise makes us healthy by building muscles in the heart and increasing use of respiratory system

  62. Low fitness is the biggest factor that leads to death. 30 minutes of exercise a day can improve your health, and walking is the best medicine. By exercising every day it decreases the chance of you becoming sick or have diabetes by 58%. By exercising only 30 minutes a day you can expand your lifetime and decrease your blood pressure. I think every person should take at least 30 minutes a say and dedicate it to exercising. We can become a healthier society 30 minutes at a time.

  63. What stood out to me most in this video that exercise makes the biggest difference in someones health, all that is required is 30 minutes being active, and that with weights its better to use less weight with more reps. With just 30 minutes of exercise it helps with people who have arthritis, who walked or exercised for 30 minutes per day to reduced their pain and disability by up to 50%, Alzheimer's who exercised just 30 minutes reduced their symptoms by 50% and those with anxiety also shows a decrease of problems by 58% through the simple act of exercising. I think that we should all try to make it a habit to exercise to help decrease problems in your body, and expand your life span tremendously. To help encourage this children in school, from pre-school all the way to college, should have a set time where we do physical activity, the same goes for adults at work. More video games for kids that require them off the couch and making them move. With these ideas into play, we all could become happier and healthier.
