Was it difficult to complete? What was the most challenging part? Do you think you will continue? Why is it necessary for heart health? Explain why our society should make a shift to incorporate more of these into daily practice.
Challenge 1: No fast food or anything FRIED
Challenge 2: Replace white flour with 100% whole wheat
Challenge 3: No processed food! (This one requires some work!)

ReplyDeleteChallenge 1: This challenge was not too difficult for me, I just had to make a conscious effort to not eat fried food. I made baked chicken for dinner one night and I did not order fries with my Mooya burger. The hardest part was avoiding chips and salsa because that is one of my favorite after school snacks. Even though I know fried food is not healthy for you because of all of the oil it is cooked in and it increases fat and cholesterol, I still plan to eat fried food every once in awhile without indulging in it. The public really needs to stop relying on fast food (which is often fried) as their daily calorie intake. It is creating a society that is having greater heart problems than ever before even with the huge medical technology improvements.
ReplyDeleteI convinced my mom and dad to complete challenge one with me. Our breakfast for all three days stayed the same. We had toast for breakfast the first day of our diet. The second day we had Cheerios and on the third day we had honey grains of oats. For our lunches we had Ramon noodles the first day, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches the second day, and stemmed rice the third day. For dinner we had non fried chicken with broccoli the first night, stemmed rice with non fried chicken again, and spaghetti the third night. It definitely wasn't difficult for mom because she doesn't really like fast food that much. Yet for my dad and I It was a little more difficult because I usually eat fast food at school with things such as pizza. While my dad is usually always on the go and usually eats fast food because of how quick it is. The most challenging part was actually bringing lunch to school instead of eating the food at school. I most likely will because I ran much better in track while not eating fast food. It is necessary for heart health because all of this fast food and fried food is always bad for heart and once you delete that from your diet you are doing all of the things necessary to maintain a health heart. Our society needs change like this because we are a very obese country and deleting fast food and fried food from our diet will be a guarantee that we will no longer have bad health
ReplyDeleteI did challenge one and this was not too difficult for me, but it was harder than expected. I thought that not eating any fast food for three days would be the easiest thing ever, but I realized the availability and easiness of fried and fast food makes it much more appealing than it actually is. It is so easy to just run through sonic or somewhere like that right after school instead of having to use my time to actually make myself something healthy. I normally do not eat breakfast, but during this challenge I tried to start off with something healthy. I would eat things such as toast or eggs and have a lot of water with it. Lunch wasn't hard for me at all, because I already pack my lunch every day and it has nothing fried in it. I just ate the same lunch, so this did not pose any problems. After school though, I would have to make myself stuff so that I didn't feel tempted to just go run out and buy some fast food. One day I ate some ham with some fruit, another day I had some pasta, and the last day I had salad. I also didn't drink sodas during this, which really helped because I was consuming a lot of water. This is something I would like to keep up, even though it does get hard at times. Plague builds up around our hearts when we continue to eat unhealthy all the time, and people do need to watch out. Society should be more educated on this topic. Everyone should try and do his, because it is very beneficial in the long run.

ReplyDeleteI did the no fried or fast food and it was not to difficult! I do not typically go to fast food restaurants which helped but I was tempted to eat fried food when I was doing this challenge. Fried food tastes so yummy but it is so unhealthy for your body! Cutting fried food out of your diet would definitely help ones heart and eventually make them a healthier person overall. This is a good challenge especially for the people who set a lot of fried foods or go to fast food restaurants regularly. I also did the second one but it was not hard at all because when I was in elementary school my mom switched everything we had (pasta, flour, bread, etc.) to 100% whole wheat. So I am used to eating with whole wheat. We even bake things with whole wheat flour. I can't taste a difference which is a good thing because wheat is so much better for you than white flour or white bread. These are good challenges to practice because people tend to not realize what is going into their bodies and being conscious of it is a good thing.
I convinced my sister to do this challenge with me and she was so excited. She eats like this on a normal basis so it was a good motivator for me. We rarely eat fast food so that wasn't a struggle and the second challenge included whole wheat which is not a part of our diets. My sister is gluten free so a lot of us eat gluten free anyways. So we decided to take part in the last one which is definitely the most challenging. The first day was too bad because we went to the grocery store to purchase all natural foods. After a while we got tired of the same things so the second day became harder. We went on Pinterest and looked up some natural- no processed recipes a me were surprised by finding many food options, this made the last two days so much easier. We made recipes that included vegetables and natural meats and homemade soups with all natural ingredients. It was so amazing to see the difference and it made us feel so much better. I think I will try and continue although it I'll be harder for her since she is in college. Our society should incorporate these whole foods because the processed foods are deteriorating peoples bodies which affects so many things about them, even thinking straight. I would love, for America to be more like foreign places with healthy foods.
ReplyDeleteI completed challenge 1, and overall it was not too difficult for me since I was able to substitute other meals with the fried and fast food. However, the most challenging part was resisting the urge to eat fried or fast food since I am surrounded by it everywhere. All in all, I don't think I would continue on with this challenge, however, I would limit the amount I eat since I know it's not healthy for me. Because there are so many fast food restaurants, it is necessary to know about one's heart health and how to prevent certain diseases in the future. Our society should make a shift to eat less fried food because it would make a huge difference to everyone's life and health in the long run.
ReplyDeleteChallenge 1: I asked my mom to take part in this challenge with me over the break. I honestly didn't think it was going to be really hard since I am not a huge fast food or fried food eater anyways, but it made me realize that I am able to substitute foods that I may not realized are actually fried, such as chips. The hardest part of this challenge for both my mom and I was resisting chips, and other fried snacks, along with fried chicken, and the fact that we are surrounded by fried foods everywhere. I do believe this is challenge I am going to try and continue because not only was I feeling healthier, while eliminating these types of foods, but I felt like I had more energy and looked like I was less tired all the time from putting more healthier options into my body. Society should focus on what we can do together to change we way we eat because it will affect our bodies in the long run. It is so important to help younger kids understand that just because you may in a rush that fast food is the way to go. There are many healthy options that are available, and that are just like the fried option, without the fried part. I feel like fried foods and especially places that sell mostly fried options like fast food chains, are making people believe that it is okay to eat fried foods all the time. But, this is not the case, there are many other types of options we can learn about that are much healthier for our bodies and can allow us to live stronger, longer lives in the long run.
ReplyDeleteChallenge 1: I always wanted to try to cut out fast food, but it was always harder with my hectic school schedule. So during the winter break was the perfect opportunity to eat healthier. Instead of eating fried foods, my sister and I made different meals at home. I made baked fish with a side of vegetables one day and I felt way better afterwards. In comparison to Wendy's. Another day I made grilled chicken and a salad. I honestly didn't think it was hard becasue the food I made tasted fresher and I felt better. I would love to continue this lifestyle but it is harder for me when I'm always on the run. I think society needs to make healthier options that is easy to pick up on the go. I would pack my lunch everyday but sometimes time is not my bestfriend. Heart health is important because the impact of fried foods can affect the fat around a person's heart. I think it is easier to change eating options at school, so at least one meal a day is some what healthy. Society should be more concerned because of the health of our future and the importance of understanding a healthy lifestyle is better for the person.
ReplyDeleteI did both challenge 1 and 2 because I tend to eat incredibly healthy during the school weeks, so cutting out all fried food wasn't too difficult. I found that when I was going through my 3 days by day 3 I had a bit more energy than normal, and my hair didn't get as greasy as fast, I do plan to continue cutting more unhealthy items out of my diet because I enjoy having more energy. I know that having a healthy heart is important personally because of my history with heart issues, but it is also an important thing to the general public because the heart literally keeps us alive, and we should try to take care of it.
ReplyDeleteChallenge 3: This challenge was a little difficult, because I tend to eat processed foods for snack such as chips, granola bars, etc. I mostly eat fresh food for the main meals like breakfast, lunch and dinner, but for snacks I tend to gravitate toward processed foods because they are easier to get a hold of. Processed foods are not healthy because they are not fresh from nature and therefore contain preservatives and dangerous ingredients. So for this challenge, I decided to cut out processed foods out of my diet. Instead for snack, I had fresh fruit like a banana and an apple, which is a lot more healthier and I found that I had a lot more energy afterwards. On the second day, instead of gravitating toward the packaged food after school, I decided to eat baby carrots and have a fresh glass of fruit smoothie. The third day, i was getting used to eating only fresh fruits and veggies, but I still had those cravings for "junk food", but I still continued to eat healthy. This challenge had helped me to see that we include a lot of food in our diet that is considered processed food, and in this modern world, processed food is becoming abundant. However, after doing this challenge I have decided to eat some processed foods occasionally but also to focus more of my diet on fresh fruits and veggies to keep me healthy.
ReplyDeleteI did challenge one and it was not too hard for me because I try to no eat fried food and fast food. Although I do not typically have these types of food, there were times where I was wanting some chick-fil-a. Fast foods are easy to get which is why so many people eat them and fried food tastes very good. These types of food may taste good but they can lead to hurting your body especially the heart. I am not much of a breakfast person so I just had either an apple or banana those
ReplyDeletethree days. I always pack my lunch so I was able to eat the same things I always have since none of it is fried. Dinner was also very easy because my mom does not cook anything fried and we did not go to a fast food restaurant. For the three nights we had chicken, fish, and pasta with either vegetables or rice. I will definitely try to not eat at fast food places all of the time even though I will probably have some every once in a while. Fast food and fried foods are not healthy for the heart and can lead to heart diseases and even heart attacks. Our society needs to stop relying on fast food restaurants because it is causing Americans to not live a healthy life and even become obese.
My family and I decided to do challenge #3 together and not eat any processed food for three days. This one was definitely a very difficult one for us to accomplish. Throughout the entire time, we had to keep each other super accountable. Both of my parents are already quite healthy because of certain health complications they have. My mother has to be gluten free because of stomach issues, while my dad is completely sugar free because of his diabetes. In order to eat non-processed food, we had to change up our grocery list just a tad, and had to meet the accommodations for both my parents. Although my mom normally cooks us dinner, she made homemade meals every night for those three nights. I would say that this challenge was the hardest for both my brothers and I because we are used to eating processed food and junk food. I do think though that it made a permanent impact on my family, because we have continued the healthy lifestyle of non-proccessed food eating. Although it has been difficult and there have definitely been some slip ups, it's been worth it! I can say that my family as a whole feels healthier and definitely has more energy. My mom and I have yet to let go of diet coke yet, though. Eating healthy and eating food that is good for both your heart and your body is so important because your food is your fuel to your body. Essentially, it all comes down to what you eat. The saying you are what you eat is true. Eating healthy gives your heart good fuel and gives your body energy to exercise! Our society should make more implications for eating healthy food in our world today because it is what is best for the people of our society. Statistics have shown that two thirds of U.S. citizens are obese! I think that if healthy food was more advertised and was sold more regularly our society could lower the number of obese people in our country. Overall, eating healthy can be hard and a huge challenge but it is definitely worth it!
ReplyDeleteI did both Challenge 1 and 2. The challenge was not very difficult three days is not a very long time. My family also participated with me, it was not hard for us we just cut out a few carbs and starches. I tried the third challenge for a day and it incredibly hard.. It is important for society to watch what they eat, if we will be come overall healthier country. We would save money on health care and gym membership and overall be a
ReplyDeleteI did both challenge 1 and challenge 2 along with my family members. The first challenge wasn't difficult due to the fact that I don't eat fast food very often. Even so, I did pay more attention to what I did eat. I ate fruits and fresh vegetables for snacks and did not fry any of my food. In addition, I started trying to eat 100% whole wheat bread and actually found myself liking it. It is a lot more filling than normal white bread or honey wheat bread and doesn't taste that bad. I ate it with tomatoes, cheese, spinach, and other vegetables. This wasn't very difficult to complete because typically my family doesn't have fast food (we usually cook for most of our meals). We rarely fry most of our meals too so the first challenge wasn't very hard. However, replacing white flour with 100% whole wheat was hard to adjust to. The most challenging part was seeing junk food around the house and not being able to eat it. I will definitely try my best to continue. I will continue eating 100% whole wheat bread, will try to eat a healthier cereal with more whole wheat, and even try challenge 3 by cutting down on processed foods. This is necessary for heart health because these foods do not deposit unhealthy fats and don't block our arteries. Our society should make a shift to incorporate more of these challenges into daily practice because it will prevent more people from becoming obese or from getting heart problems and risking their lives. We should eat to live, not live to eat. Of course it's okay to indulge yourself in unhealthy, tasty foods once in a while. But it is also important to take care of our health. Healthy food can taste good as well; it just takes a lot of time and effort to make healthy, tasty food for us to enjoy everyday.
ReplyDeleteI tried challenge 3 and failed miserably. It's unbelievable how hard it is to find stuff as simple as cheese that hasn't been processed. I think I would have to start a farm in my backyard and quit school to live without processed foods. It's incredibly time consuming to make food from scratch and I'm a horrible chef. Our dependency on processed foods is definitely a by-product of our fast paced lifestyle. I was really surprised to find that one of the most difficult aspects of this challenge was literally trying to fit cooking my meals into my schedule. As 21st century Americans we are way too lazy to rid ourselves of processed food. Instead we should focus on ways to reduce the health issues associated with processed foods. Hopefully someday there won't be a trade off between convenience and health.
ReplyDeleteI did challenge one and it wasn't hard to stay away from fried foods because it's not something I eat all the time. The more challenging part was not going out to eat or getting fast food. I think I had more trouble with this part since I'm usually always out and about, or going somewhere, so driving through Schlotzsky's and anywhere else seemed to be the most convenient thing for me. So participating in this challenge, I would eat before I left my house, and if I was going to volleyball and would be gone for the day, I would just pack some snacks in case I got hungry instead of having to go get food.
ReplyDeleteI tried to do challenge one and two mainly because the third was very difficult. Out of the two challenges I participated in the first one was the hardest because I have an addiction to eating fast food like burgers, fries, and all restaurant beverages. Challenge two was not that difficult because my family already replaced white flour with 100% whole wheat so that wasn’t too bad. I think I can keep continuing challenge two because my family does but challenge one is going to be difficult to keep continuing but I’ll try my best. It’s important to keep your heart healthy so that every day you have the energy to breath or do any physical activity without getting any pain or even building muscles. As we know today, America is known for their obese children so it is influential to the parents and the kids if they changed their lifestyle of picking what to eat.
ReplyDeleteI had done the challenge 1, and I didn't find it to hard because I hardly eat fast food or fried stuff. Breakfast was easy because I had waffles or cereal. Lunch I get a sandwich, veggies and fruit. For dinner I had salad, ramen noodles, and ravioli. My family eats healthy, and we try not to eat out, however I know others might struggle with the eating fast fried food. I know when I do it's because I'm out and about and don't have time stop and think what I'm eating. Imagine if we all switched to healthier eating and only had fast food once a week, I bet we would all feel much different.
ReplyDeleteChallenge 1. During the winter break on my dad's lunch period he would just about always bring home McDonald's and I started to notice how unhealthy our lunches would be. It wasn't very hard but I just told him that we should try to eat less fast foods for lunch and instead make lunches together at home to have. The most challenging part was the convenience of the fast food since he has a short lunch break. I would instead have to prepare our lunch well before hand so it could be warm still by the time we had lunch. I know I am going to continue because we aren't usually on break so that I will be able to have more options at school for healthier foods and my dad is continuing by keeping leftovers from dinner to have at lunch instead of fast food. It is necessary for our heart to try and avoid fast food when we can. The availability of fast food makes it seem like it isn't as bad for you as it really is so a lot of people choose fast food not exactly realizing it can hurt your heart like with a fatty heart. Society should make a change to eating less fast food because it was never meant to be for every meal but maybe once in awhile it won't hurt your body as bad as eating fast food everyday would. If people chose to eat healthier and less fast food everyday people will notice that their body would feel "fresher" than it would if they always ate fast food.
ReplyDeleteI did challenge one, and surprisingly, it was easier than I thought it would be. My family doesn't eat a lot of fried foods and we don't eat out a lot. On top of that, my extracurricular activities are scheduled where I don't need to run to restaurants so I have the time to eat at home. This made it extremely easy to avoid those foods. Some hard parts were I am so used to grabbing chips or something like that for a snack that I often have to remind myself that I was avoiding those foods. The other part was the definition of fast food; the internet description was rather vague so I just assumed that anything prepackaged and frozen would be considered fast food. This made making lunch a lot harder because I had to get up earlier to make lunch. I will continue this though, because as far as diet changes go, this one doesn't require a huge adjustment and is relatively easy to me. This challenge is necessary because it helps eliminate saturated fats from foods which is good for helping arteries stay clear.
ReplyDeleteOver the break I did the first challenge. My parents went to my grandparents house so I was home alone for a few days. This challenge was actually pretty difficult. It was hard to choose what I ate because the easy thing to do is to go to a fast food place. Instead of getting fast food, I would grill chicken or just have some sandwiches. I don't think that this trend will continue, I wish it would but it is a lot easier to go buy food. I think participating in this challenge is a good thing for your health because it eliminates all the bad food from your diet for a few days and it gets you to start building better habits.
ReplyDeleteI chose to take on challenge number 1. I typically have fast food or fried foods in my diet at least once every three days, so the challenge was somewhat difficult. However, it was nice to have them taken out of my diet for a change. The most difficult part of the challenge was probably breakfast for me. Most of the dinners that I have are made by my parents at home, meaning they are not fast food or fried. Also, most of my lunches are brought from home into school, implying the same. However, my breakfasts are commonly toast-able items such as toaster strudels which are fried. Because of this, I had to eat healthier items for breakfast. I enjoyed the experience and I think it was beneficial to myself. I hope to continue it because it would be helpful for my lifestyle. Also, I really think that it would be beneficial for our society to incorporate this kind of lifestyle into our daily lives because it will help the health of everybody.
ReplyDeleteHeart Healthy
ReplyDeleteOver the break my mother and I decided to do challenge number three and to cut out all processed food. This was right after christmas so it was a rapid change from the delectable floors of processed food to the more natural tastes of non processed food. This was a lot more difficult than I ought it would be. Coordinating our meals was fine because we simply bought more fruits and vegetables and figured out simple meals we could make with the ingredients allowed. The more difficult part was hanging out with my friends. During dinner at one of my friends house I had to politely decline their mothers cooking and go home and bring back food that would meet the challenge. We had decided to do the challenge for a week instead of just three days because we wanted a "real" challenge. I'll admit I was too cocky for my own good because by the third day it was becoming increasingly difficult to resist the cravings that I had for things that were usually easy to obtain and eat. White sugar and bread sounded now more delicious than any "rabbit food" (to quote my dad) To my surprise though, by the end of the week those cravings were much lower and than feeling of need in our throats and stomach was much duller, our cravings had lessened. After this change we have gone back to eating processed food but my mother and I are trying to cook healthier dinners at home with less d&d processed foods. The thing I found interesting is that when I eat a meal from the school or a fast food place I will usually get that disgustingly full feeling in my stomach without even eating much, but under this diet the full feeling did not feel gross or hurt, it was more satisfying. I feel that this was a very good and impactful challenge and that people across America should try it to gain perspective on heart health.
Throughout the break I took over the first challenge not eating fast food wasn't to difficult for myself because I typically don't eat fast food so on top of this I added on and paired it with the second challenge typically around my house you only find whole wheat items. For my sandwiches I made for lunch of toast in the morning I ate Ezekiel bread which is high in nutrients as well as whole wheat. This challenge also was surprisingly easy for me however when I attempted to pair up all three challenges it began to get difficult! For snacks I typically like to eat crackers or protein bars if i'm on the go. It was difficult to find a non-processed snack that was quick for me to take as well as something that would fill me up. I went to Kroger and found what are called Lara bars, they have about three ingredients in them including dates, walnuts, unsweetened cherries. This was the perfect snack although they may be considered "processed" they were a step in the right direction with half cup of fruit, 4 grams of fiber, and 5 grams of protein and only 190 calories it was both filling and delicious! I am very excited to continue to find healthier snack options and improve my health and steer away from processed foods!
ReplyDeleteDuring the break I decided to try challenge 3 because challenge 1 and challenge 2 aren't much of a challenge for me because I normally don't eat fast food and in our family we only eat whole wheat products. Challenge 3 was very difficult, much more difficult than I imagined. Almost everything is processed! Snacks were easier to find than full meals. For snacks I typically ate carrots, or fruits such as apples, tangerines, or bananas. For lunch I would make myself a salad and dinner was too difficult to refrain from processed foods. I tried making it as healthy as I could. Through this challenge, I realized that in this day and age you can't really avoid processed foods completely, but if you try to avoid processed foods as much as possible, you will improve your health and develop a healthier lifestyle.
ReplyDeleteThe 1st and 2nd one weren't a challenge for me since I don't eat anything unhealthy in my house. We only eat either whole grain or veggie pasta, and everything else is super healthy. The biggest challenge for me was the third one. I was able to do it for two days but not three. It's way to hard to find something not processed! And nothing tasted that good after that anyway! Overall I'm just going to stick to the first two challenges because I already do do those, but never again will I try the third challenge!

ReplyDeleteI decided to try challenge #1. This challenge wasn't too difficult for me because I don't eat a lot of fried food. The most challenging part was staying away from unhealthy snacks like chips. Yes, I do think I will continue to avoid fried foods because I noticed that I was able to run and play basketball better. Eating too much fried food increases your risk of diabetes, and heart attacks. Since America has once of the highest percentage of obesity, we should avoid fried foods as much as possible. By doing this we can help lower the percentage of obesity in America.
ReplyDeleteI did challenge 1. I didn't find it particularly difficult because the only time I eat fried foods is at dinner, and there are lots of alternatives to have, such as pasta. The most challenging part was the temptation to eat fast food, as I usually eat some on Saturday nights. While I won't continue not eating fried food, I will try to eat less of it, as I found myself feeling healthier, and I only did the challenge for 3 days. Eating these types of food is bad for you because they contain large amounts of fat, and this can be bad for your heart. Our society should eat less of these products, as eating too much of it too often will lead to obesity.

ReplyDeleteI did all three challenges and found the third one to be quite challenging. In the mornings I found that most of my breakfast options were processed foods so I had to find alternative while rushing to get to school on time. Other than that one aspect the rest of the challenges were not hard to complete as my family had switched to whole wheat a couple of years back and fried foods/fast food was also relatively easy to give up for three days. I believe I will continue with all the challenges as much as possible. Eating fast foods or fried foods in a controlled manner is fine in my perspective. But challenge number three made me realize how much processed foods have crept into our diet. Each individual must make their own choices regarding their health, a depiction which will promote their health in the long run. With each person making a change, society will eventually make a shift towards a healthier lifestyle, thereby decreasing obesity rates, early deaths due to cardiovascular diseases and in general will lead a less problematic life.
ReplyDeleteChallenge 1: I love fast food and junk food and it wasn't too harmful since I was in cross country but now that the season is over it's pretty hard to keep healthy of I'm eating the same food. So this was really helpful because I started eating a lot of fast food. It was hard the first and second day it was pretty easy but the longer I went without fast food the more I wanted it and the more I wanted to think I deserved it. After the 3 days I didn't feel that accomplished because I'm usually a healthy eater but I felt good knowing it's going to be easier eating healthy foods if I keep on avoiding fast food. I feel like I have a lot more energy and I feel a lot less gross. I'm definitely going to keep doing this.

ReplyDeleteChallenge #3-
ReplyDeleteAt first this did not seem like it would really be a challenge for me, my parents are health nuts, but even with that there is still an abundance of processed food within my household. Not consuming processed food for just one day is a challenge and unbearable for many but it just made me take more time to plan and prepare a meal which just made me more aware of what I eat. The most difficult part for me was not being able to incorporate salt into my diet, because salt is considered a processed food, which we overlook and seem to consider something natural. Instead of the addition of salt I substituted it with fresh lemon juice and fresh spices like rosemary, basil, and oregano so my food would have flavor minus the salt. That was difficult but it was great as a natural detox, because without added salts to your diet you retain less water.
I would not chose to live like this simply because I am not used to such a change but I would consider perhaps having 1-2 days every week where I don't consume processed food, and along with that just be cautious and consider what the food you are putting in your mouth actually contains like added preservatives, too much sodium, and ingredients you aren't familiar with. This is necessary to not only maintain a balanced diet but specifically heart health due to the amounts of fat, oils, and unnatural ingredients that all can lead up to having a cholesterol problems, heart disease,or even a heart attack. We should all make an effort to at least replace snacks with non processed foods as a start, change from chex mix to carrots or a granola bar to banana.Start small and slowly make substitutions for maybe a lunch or dinner one day when you have time.
Challenge #3
ReplyDeleteThis challenge was actually very esy for me to complete over both the thanksgiving and Christmas break. My family doesn't really have too many processed foods in the house and combined with the partnership of me having to watch what I eat for wrestling, it wasn't too difficult. All I would really do was wake up, go to practice nod then go eat an apple or banana for lunch. What really kept it easy was that I was so tied from ours of wrestling that I would eat the fruits nod then go back to bed.nthe idea of keeping a healthier diet so important in this day and age. There are all of these different processed foods available, but if people would just get the good solid foods, where they know every ingredient in it, then people would be so much healthier. The processed foods have so much sugar in them, beside the fact that they also have a lot of salt in them too. This sugar and salt duo really hits the heart hard! and if people would eat healthier foods! then they would be all the better for it. The most challenging part for me was looking at the processed foods like chips in particular that my family would eat and I would have to stop myself. Honestly, I don't think I will continue this no processed foods routine because, personally my body can take the junk because of my rigorous workouts and my fast metabolism right now. That doesn't mean I won't switch back once I am older and don't have wrestling to fall back on though.
Challenge 1: I convinced my whole family to do it with me. I thought it would be easy to cut out fast food or anything fried for 3 days but I leaned that it isn't. With my mom sometimes getting home late from work she can't always cook a homemade dinner so it's easier to just pick up some fast food on her way home. So for these 3 days we had to make sure our dinners were planed out and if she was running late then me or my brother would get started on dinner so we wouldn't be tempted to get fast food. We will defiantly TRY to limit our fast food or fired food intake because during those 3 days we felt like we had a lot more energy then usual but no promising that we will completely cut them out of our diets. Fatty foods can increase the risk of arteries narrowing which will lead to heart disease and or a stroke. Our sicoty should change to this because foot food and fried food is a major cause of obesity in America.
ReplyDeleteHeart is the one of the organ that works constantly from the beginning of the life until the end supporting all our organs. To maintain this small muscle with healthy diet is at first painful to the sensory tong and the digestive stomach but one needs to suppress his unhealthy cravings for a healthy heart and a enthusiastic future. I followed this 3 day challenge and came to some conclusions about them.
ReplyDeleteChallenge 1 - I did not feel any in-congruency to avoid any fast foods or anything fried. The most challenging part is that we cannot find different varieties until and unless you actually spend time searching for these natural foods. I will try to continue this for as long as i cannot break it. Our present society is prone to serious heart diseases and about 35.7 (one/third) of adults in america are obese which means that there is high risk of heart diseases in our nation, to control this we need to incorporate the natural foods into our regular diet and make it a daily habit that wee may become role model inspiring others let it be kids or adults the change can begin with us.
Challenge 2 - Replacing recently made white floor with 100% pure wheat in our diet is one of the major trouble that most of the people have incorporating into their daily life. I've tried this for 3 days as instructed. It was difficult only during my brunch as i miss my white bread but other than that it was great. Missing bread for 3 days was quite challenging because i used to have it almost every day. I will continue this from now on because it felt difficult only on the first day and was fine later on. Wheat plays an important role as a fiber and having healthy natural wheat is necessary for our heart and healthy life. White bread is healthy as stated before and helps to maintain healthy heart which is now essential for the society.
Challenge 3 - Having no processed food is an inevitable thing for this generation kids (including me). But considering my hearts health i managed to do this for 3 "whole" days. II had fruits for my lunch and home made breakfast along with vegetable soups in the night. I will try my level best to continue this in this new year except one day a month without which our life would be tasteless. This task is essential throughout our life to manage the fat intake and the calories spent along with having heart healthy food into the body which will give it prolonged energy. As i stated above that one third of our currents adults obese which has its main source in un-managed diet so shifting to unprocessed food cuts outs huge calorie intake and prevents the accumulation of fat, thus creates a healthy life.
I did challenge #1 this was hard for me because after basketball practice as a team we sometimes go get food, sometimes more healthy than others. Instead of going to get Wendy's I would just go home and my mom would make me healthy foods, one day an egg on top of a hamburger patty and other protein filled meals. I did notice a slight difference in my practices because sometimes I'll feel slow or get light headed but while eating healthier foods I felt good, energized and had better practices. I have continued my healthy habits and have enjoyed the outcome.
ReplyDeleteFor my second six weeks challenge, I had my family do the heart healthy challenge and replace all our white flower products with whole wheat flower products. This challenge wasn't too hard. The pasta, bread and tortillas we had for each of our meals didn't really taste too much different a from white flower products. I think the most challenging part was making my own sandwiches. My mom ended up liking whole wheat more and says we will now buy whole wheat products more often. Whole wheat is better for heart health because it doesn't have as much added sugar than white flower products and also has more grains and fibers that are great for regulating heart health. Our society needs to incorporate more whole wheat products into their lives because all the added sugar in white flower products make us more fat and don't contribute to our heart health. If we all eat more whole wheat products, our society will be much more healthy and happy.
ReplyDeleteWhen I did this I chose challenge 3: no processed foods. Basically what I did was eat absolutely nothing but fresh fruit from the coppell farmers market. I actually enjoyed it a lot because I love fruit.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't able to add any more for some reason but to this day I still eat much more fruit that I ever did before this challenge. And I also drink a lot more milk too.
DeleteI chose challenge 1. It was very difficult to complete this challenge for me. Me and my friends constantly go out to eat so I was finding myself wishing I hadn't taken this challenge. The most challenging part of this challenge was not being able to eat anything fried. I love anything and everything that is fried. I won't be able to continue because i just wanted to show myself I could stop eating junk food.
