I chose to run a 5K to benefit DFW Lab Rescue. This organization is where my family adopted my 4 year old yellow lab, Kona,
ReplyDeleteExercise is a huge part of staying healthy. This is how the body burns calories and helps it stay balanced. Regarding the digestive system, exercise helps to improve the efficiency of the digestive system process. By decreasing the once 24-72 hour time spam for digestion, the body is able to maintain a healthy weight by burning calories quicker. Additionally, exercise helps strengthen muscles throughout the body. Some muscles that are strengthened are those apart of the digestive system. Stronger digestive system muscles enable easier movement of food for maximum health benefits.
This past weekend I ran in the DFW Run For Retrievers 5K with my 2 year old lab, Beau.
ReplyDeleteExercising is a very important part in staying healthy and keeping your digestive system strong. By exercising regularly, it helps keep weight off and keeps your body's systems functioning properly. The normal time it takes for digestion is anywhere from 24-72 hours and exercising improves this process. Many digestive issues arise due to lack of exercise. Since your heart and breathing rate are increased while exercising, it strengthens the muscles in your digestive system, leading to good bowel movements.
I few weekends ago, I ran the Color Vibe, its a 5k run where they throw colored cornstarch on you as you run.
ReplyDeleteExercising plays a huge roll in staying healthy. By exercising, your body is able to have better blood flow and help with the speed and efficientcy of the digestive system and other bodily functions. Excercising burns calories and can help you stay fit or loose weight. Exercising is also a great way to blow off some steam. If you are in a bad mood and go out and exercise, the energy you will release will make you feel better. Exercising helps with the digestive system because the increase in blood flow helps the body to speed up the digestive system process, therefor burning more calories and helping you stay in better shape, and helping you live a healthier life style.
I ran in the Run for Retrievers 5K on September 14. I own a Labrador retriever mix, which is why I decided to register for the race. In addition to the race, there were so many dogs around Andy Brown! A lot of the runners brought their dogs, and some just came with his or her dog to support the race. There were also several dogs up for adoption, including a black Labrador Retriever named Enid. My sister and I took a picture with her. I would participate in this race again since it supports a great cause. The funds raised will go to the DFW Lab Rescue. Before the race, I made sure to eat a nutritious breakfast. Instead of eating sugary items like donuts or pancakes, I chose to eat a banana, Greek yogurt, and peanut butter toast. I also drank lots of water before to stay hydrated. If I had run a longer race, I would have needed to prepare to night before by eating lots of carbohydrates such as a plate of spaghetti. Fitness and diet are greatly connected. In order to get the most out of physical activity, one must also eat correctly. For example, it will be very difficult to perform well during cardio activity if you just ate a cheeseburger, chips, and a soda. Your body must have good nutrients to perform well during physical activity.
ReplyDeleteA few weeks ago I decided to participate in the 5k neon run in Arlington and it was better then I thought it was going to be. I brought my friend and we had an amazing time running with all the other contestants and see how dedicated they were to continue. People were shouting things like" let's go!, we can do it!, Summer body!, summer body!"And so much more, it was hilarious. By the end of the night we were not only sore to the bone but also partly glad we were because it was good for our health after all, because running improves our immune system, so our body functions are more effective and efficient at fighting off germs. Running and other weight-bearing exercises increase bone density, which can fend off osteoporosis and after that night we decided that we would participate every year to make sure that we stay in good shape and of course have some fun.
ReplyDeleteA few weeks ago I ran a 5k that was held in Richardson. This was the first run I had ever done, and I found I enjoyed it a lot more than I had thought I would. I don't usually run, so this was new to me, but I had fun and felt very accomplished when I crossed the finish line. Fitness is a very important factor in a healthy lifestyle, because it helps get your heart rate going and your blood flowing, and it also helps you sleep at night when you have had a good, tiresome workout:) To stay fit and healthy throughout your life, exercise is an important factor that everyone should participate in whether it be running, jogging, lifting weights, or just playing a game of tag. If you get your heart rate to go up a bit every day, the healthier it will be.

ReplyDeleteThis past weekend I competed in the Stone Bridge 10th annual triathlon. This was my fourth triathlon and I am absolutely obsessed with the entire scene start to finish. Before the race everyone is saying "oh man, why'd I sign up for this again?" or "how is this voluntary?" or the best one "doing triathlons is crazy enough why don't we add some ramps and rings of fire to the bike portion?". As soon as the gun is fired, it's game time. Everyone is trying their absolute best to get ahead of the next guy. It is a race for that matter. But although it's a race, everyone is extremely supportive and motivating. When someone zooms past someone else on the bike you always hear a "you got this, don't let a girl beat you, haha" or a "hey we're almost done, push harder" from one of the two. Everyone is so fierce and determined, yet full of smiles and kindness. After the race all you hear is "when is the next race?" Or "can I do that again?". They're addicting. This triathlon, like every other athletic race, is important because it helps support a healthy life style. Triathletes are not ones to go to mcdonalds or indulge in food that the body does not like or need. Athletes enjoy caring for their bodies and maintaining a healthy diet. This promotes a healthy immune system and better function of the organs. Being athletic, racing in races, and maintaining a healthy diet is all important in fighting and preventing different diseases and forming health problems. I see people well into their 60s and 70s racing in triathlons and they could easily beat any average 30 year old. It goes to show that caring for the body will also help maintain a healthy lifestyle well into old age.
ReplyDeleteWalk to End Alzheimer's in Mckinney, Texas. I would compare this walk closely to Relay for Life. We started off with a flower ceremony and there were yellow, purple, blue and orange flowers that each represented a different situation. The yellow flowers were for all caretakers of relatives and patients with Alzheimers. The blue flowers were for people currently battling against Alzheimer's. The purple flowers were for honoring those who had died, and the orange were just for if you support a world without Alzheimer's. We all held up our flowers for a moment to remember and reflect and the event coordinator spoke about how we are all a flower garden, each flower coming together to fight for a world without Alzheimer's. This walk wasn’t so much about fitness and dieting it was mainly about Alzheimers. I learned many new statistics about Alzheimers that I never knew before and some are below in the google doc!
ReplyDeleteOn september 21, I ran the 5k Mercy Run with my dad. The run is to support those dealing with, and to help the prevention of infant deaths, named after "Mercy" the founders daughter who only lived a few days and then passed away. 5k's are important to me because they help me support a cause and give me a reason to run. 5k's are also important because they keep people fit and active, running helps your body stay in shape. Running also helps the digestive system because before and after a race you have to eat the proper food or else you will feel sick. Running 5k's to me are important, because they mean something.
ReplyDeleteOn October 19 I ran the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. This race supports both women and men who have breast cancer, or are breast cancer survivors. It races awareness and funds in order to find a cure for cancer. Running in this race with my family was an amazing experience, one that I will never forget. We ran this race with a group from my dads office, a guy that works with my dad, named Shawn carried a 70 lb punching bag while running in the race, with the names of people who were close with any of us, who had breast cancer, or who have passed away or are fighting breast cancer right now. My grandma was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and I ran in this race for her. I felt so excited and honored to be a part of such a big organization that is fighting for a great cause. Now, it is even more relevant to me, and I am going to do my part in order to help find a cure for each and every person out there fighting this disease. It was an honor to be a part of the Susan G. Komen Run for the Cure.
ReplyDeleteRunning is a great cardiovascular exercise that enables people to build strong muscle and keep their bodily systems in check. It is a great way to stay healthy and feel good in your body and the way it is functioning. Make sure that you are fueling your body before and after running, it is important to keep hydrated and fuel your body with proteins.
I ran in the Susan G. Komen Race for paths Cure on October 19 with my Dad. It was a really fun race since so many different people participated. There were cancer survivors, children, adults, college students, grandparents, and more. It was also fun to wear pink! Though I only had pink gloves and a pink hair ribbon, there were people with pink tu tus, boas, jackets, and face paint.
ReplyDeleteRunning helps keep your muscles strong. It helps maintain a healthy cardiovascular system and also maintains strong muscles in your legs. A few muscles that are working while you participate in a run include hamstrings, gastrocnemius, and quadriceps. Before a run, it is important to properly stretch in order to prevent any injuries. Some of the stretches I did before the race were calf raises, lunges, jumping jacks, and the "butterfly". Following the race, I stretched my Achilles tendons and hamstrings.
I hope to participate in another race soon.
This last week I ran another triathlon. I woke two of my best friends up at five in the morning and dragged them to Denton with me for the race. They showed the least bit of enthusiasm about watching me race, but by the end they were whooping and hollering. I love racing in triathlons not only for the health benefits and competition, but because of the overall environment. Everyone is encouraging each other to push harder and to not give up. Everyone wants their competitors to finish the race. After the race, people that I saw and I were congratulating each other and asking how we did. I love the race environment and how everyone is so concerned about their health and well being. After the race my friends immediately wanted to go for a run and start training for a race too. When we got home they decided since I dragged them to the race, they would force me to go for a run. I was miserably tired, but very glad they were wanting to change their health habits.
ReplyDeleteI ran in a 5k this past weekend in Lewisville called Miles for Melanoma. My mom, dad and I all participated and did it together in order to stay motivated. We got up at about 6.45 am and drove over to the race that was scheduled to start at 8;00 am. There was a fun run and a lot of different stuff going on in order to raise money for melanoma. The atmosphere of f5k's is so much fun and everyone is cheering you on and making you feel good about yourself. Also, running is good for your health and keeps you in good shape which is beneficial. In order to run your legs and muscles work together and contract, and thats why it is also beneficial to stretch before you run in a 5k. I am doing another 5k soon, and i look forward to it.
ReplyDeleteThe Denton Jack-o-latern jog was really fun and I got to do it with my cousins and there family. The morning started off a little cold and a bit rainy but it turned out to be a pretty day and event. I ran with my Aunt Angela and my 9 year old cousin Izzy. My uncle pushed the running stroller with my two little 5 year old cousins inside. Since we had the kids running with us we didn't take the 5k as seriously. It was really cool getting to see my little cousins running for long distances and how much faster they were than the other adults. They were really hard to keep up with, there endurance was strong. I think it was a really cool family event where we all got to work out and experience running off the track but on a trail. After this event my family now plans for us to ALL participate in the Woodlands Turkey Trot in Houston, this thanksgiving. My goal for my next 5k is not to walk as much, since I had the little ones with me this time. I also plan to improve my time and start running regularly which I started about 2 weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteOn Sept. 28th I ran a Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5k (Denton) on this Race I was running with my mom and some family friends, this race we ran for some people we all know who had Breast Cancer, and it was a good race. I originally was trying to do really well while running until halfway through the race my shoe came untied and I had to stop my pace. After that I wasn't trying as hard and when we went to the tent to find our times the lady running the tent said I had gotten 3rd.
ReplyDeleteMuscles are extremely important to your body, and there are many ways of keeping them healthy, one of those is running. Exercise is important to health because it keeps your muscles in shape and keeps you active.
On Oct. 5th I ran a 5k up at my dads work (Fidelity Investments) on this Race I was running with my dad. We both are very athletic so we thought this would be a great idea for both of us. My dad is still faster than me by far, but it was fun to try and beat his boss (who was also running). I was 5 or so seconds short of beating his boss, I ended up with a time of 25:26.0, so I ended up getting first in my category. It was a fun, cold morning. The run was really challenging though because the route we went you had to run twice and right in the middle of it was this long giant hill so it took most of your energy just to stay running on that hill.
ReplyDeleteMuscles are extremely important to your body, and there are many ways of keeping them healthy, one of those is running. Keeping your body healthy is important because being healthy, to me, means being able to do things like this with my dad, and I wouldn't give that up for anything. Staying fit is important because it means keeping your body in shape to be able to do the things you want to do.
I chose to run in the "happiest 5k on the planet" known as The Color Run on November 16th, 2013. This run was meant for anyone who was willing to get up at 8 am and run/walk in this event and have a blast! I did the race with my friend Layne Wadlington, and we both really enjoy running and staying active. We ran the whole race without stopping and got covered in so much color! It was a blast and definitly worth it!
ReplyDeleteExercise and fitness is very important to your health because it helps you stay healthy and active, in which everyone must have in their life. Your muscles are very important to your body and are used in everything you do. This event helped us get great physical exercise and use our bones and muscles to run in the race.
